Inside Line Promotions – WEST FARGO, N.D. (Aug. 25, 2020) – Jason Sides garnered a pair of top-15 runs last weekend in North Dakota.

Sides began both nights with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series on a positive note, qualifying sixth quickest on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks during the Second Leg of the Northern Tour and eighth quickest on Saturday at Red River Valley Speedway during the Red River Rumble.

A runner-up result in a heat race on Friday earned a spot into the dash. Sides placed fifth in the dash to line up on the inside of the third row for the main event.

“It started off good,” he said. “We made some changes at Grand Forks for the dash. Any time you get back on the track you want to make a change. We went the wrong way so we changed more things to get it better for the feature. I was too tight going into the corners on the starts. Once we got going I’d be fine, but on the restarts I’d lose everything.”

Sides ended 13th and ventured to Red River Valley Speedway on Saturday. His eighth-place qualifying effort was followed by a fourth-place finish in a heat race. That started him 11th in the A Main.

“It started out pretty decent,” he said. “After they worked the track it was pretty equal, the top and bottom. Then it worked off the bottom and the top got going toward the end. I passed a few cars and then the top really got going. I just tried to run the bottom too long and lost a few spots.”

Sides ended 14th for his team’s 18th top 15 of the season.

Next on the radar is a trip south for World of Outlaws shows on Saturday at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., and Sunday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. Sides hasn’t competed at both tracks since 2016 when he charged from 24th to 14th to be the Hard Charger Award winner at U.S. 36 Raceway and when he finished 10th at I-80 Speedway.

“We haven’t been there in a while,” he said. “It seems like every time we go to U.S. 36 it’s wet and heavy. If it could get slick it’d be better for everyone. I-80 has always been fun to me. It usually gets more slick so that helps.”
